Challenges are simulated accounts
At most prop firms, the evaluation and often the funded stage run on simulated accounts. Your trades are not placed in the real market in your name. Any payout is paid by the firm under its own terms, not earned as profit in a real brokerage account.
Most traders fail and lose the fee
Most people who buy a challenge do not pass it. When you fail, the fee is gone. Many traders buy several attempts before they pass, or never pass. Count the cost of repeated attempts, not just one.
Fees are not investments
A challenge fee buys a service: access to an evaluation under the firm’s rules. It is not a deposit, a savings product or an investment. It does not earn interest, and you have no claim on it if you fail, break a rule or the firm closes.
Payouts are not guaranteed
Passing does not guarantee a payout. Firms can deny or reduce payouts under clauses in their terms, such as consistency rules, prohibited strategies, payout caps or identity checks. Firms can also change their rules or stop operating. We grade the public evidence that each firm pays, as explained in our methodology, but no grade is a guarantee.
Not investment advice
Nothing on Prop Firm Gauge is investment, financial, tax or legal advice. We describe firms’ rules, costs and public evidence. We do not tell you to trade, what to trade or how much to risk. If you need advice about your own situation, speak to a qualified, independent adviser.
Country availability
Firms do not accept traders from every country, and some run separate programmes for certain countries, such as the United States. Check that a firm accepts traders from where you live before you pay.
Rules change
Prop firm rules, prices and payout terms change often, sometimes every month and sometimes during an active account. Every rule on this site shows the date we checked it. Always read the firm’s current terms on its own site before you buy.
